Join us as a volunteer!

Radio Bronglais is a registered charity and its service to the Bronglais Hospital community depends entirely on the work of its volunteer team. We urgently need new volunteers to take the station forward in the next decade. Our volunteers come from all walks of life, but we all share a passion for music radio and a commitment to bringing a smile to the patients and staff at Bronglais.

Would you like to be part of our team?

If you have a couple of hours spare each week and are interested in joining Radio Bronglais, we'd love to hear from you! You could be a university student, or maybe you're retired, or perhaps you are able to fit in some volunteer work around your current job or other commitments. Whatever the case, we have a range of different ways you could help out. Here are some examples:

Presenters

We are always looking for confident, outgoing people to present our programmes. If you have no experience of this, it's not a problem - we will train you! All we ask is that you have a genuine commitment to the work of the station and are reliable (we have a schedule to keep to).  A number of famous names in broadcasting started their careers in hospital radio - it could happen to you!

Fundraisers

Radio Bronglais depends almost entirely on charitable donations, so any help we can get with our fund-raising activities is very much welcome. We organise street collections and participate in various local events throughout the year in order to raise funds. If you can help with this, please get in touch.

Audio/Technical

Our studio mixing desk and system needs occasional attention and the 24-7 automatic service requires periodic updating and maintenance. When new equipment is acquired, this has to be integrated with the existing system. The station also uses IT for producing the Radio Bronglais magazine, as well as maintaining the music database. If you can offer any practical skills in these or related areas, we'd love to hear from you!

Administration

Although Radio Bronglais is a charity, we nevertheless have to run things in an organised way. This means we need members of our team to take on defined roles as Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Hospital Liaison Officer etc. These roles are the hub of an effective organisation and we are always seeking new volunteers who can offer their time and skills to the station. If you are a good organiser and can give us a little of your time, please get in touch.

General

If you can't identify with any of the roles listed, but are keen to offer your help anyway, we would still like to hear from you! Just an extra pair of hands is all that is needed in many situations ... and, of course, you might learn some new skills whilst helping us! If you are currently unemployed, doing some work for a local charity is a great addition to your CV!
